In these days, you will hardly find any machine which is more ubiquitous or aged than the automated teller machine. It is something that makes modern personal finance an easy thing to manage. But if you try to understand the functions of ATM parts, it is really a complex thing to understand in how they work and how we physically operate them.

The purpose of ATM is to dispense money but if you would like to find out how the ATM parts work, it will prove difficult for you because there are many parts and software you will get in an ATM machine. ATMs essentially work as basic computers and additional parts of ATM allow specific functions which are running out on the computer to carry out the functions. These ATM parts or software can break or malfunction at anytime like any other computer parts. Since ATMs perform so many specialized functions, there must be the availability of approved ATM spare parts for maintenance purposes.

Some important ATM parts include:

Card Reader: Card reader performs an important function. It stores account information written on debit card or credit card on a magnetic strip. The data received by the card reader is passed on to a host processor and after that the processor retrieves the customer’s account information.

Display screen: Like any other ATM machines, ATM machines also have display screen which allow customer to see each step of the process and transaction they are doing.

Speaker: This allows the customer to hear when they are pressing any key on the keypad. Sometimes, additional voice features are added in some ATM machines.

Cash dispenser: The main purpose of a customer is receiving cash and therefore cash dispenser is the most important part in an ATM machine. It is important that cash dispenser should be maintained from time to time.
